Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution with concentrations in International Negotiations or Security Studies

The Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation, in collaboration with the Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego and Comillas University, invites applications for the Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution.

This semester-long, full-time program combines online instruction during the Fall 2026 semester with an in-person residency in Madrid in January 2027. It offers participants the opportunity to develop practical skills in mediation, conflict analysis, and international negotiations. The program requires a commitment of 20–25 hours per week of study from October through December 2026, as well as two to three weeks of in-person residency depending on the courses selected.

 

Program Overview

The core program consists of three courses:

  1. Mediation
  2. Conflict Analysis & Resolution
  3. One elective course

 

Participants may choose one of the following electives:

  • International Negotiations(offered by the University of San Diego)
  • Hybrid Wars (offered by Comillas University)

 

Eligibility and Scholarships

The program is open to citizens of any country.

Full and partial scholarships are available for applicants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine. These scholarships may cover:

  • Full tuition
  • International transportation
  • Accommodation for the in-person components of the Mediation, Conflict Analysis & Resolution, and International Negotiations courses

 

Participants who select the Hybrid Wars elective will be responsible for covering one week of accommodation in Madrid for the duration of that course.

Please note that visa fees and meals during the program are the responsibility of participants.

Applicants who receive Imagine Center scholarships will be invited to submit a formal application to the University of San Diego.

Applicants must hold an accredited bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Official transcripts are required.

  • Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 should include a brief explanation for their grade in their essay.
