BREAKING THE IMPASS SERIES:
Assesing the Dealock in Nagorno-Karabakh Peace Process: Challanges and Opportunities
On October 15-17, 2011, the Imagine Center in cooperation with the George Mason University's School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) hosted discussions with participation of Azerbaijani and Armenian diplomats and peacemakers focused on reassessing the deadlock in Track 1 negotiations and how to engage Track 2 in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution process.
These unofficial discussions focused on the need for continuing dialogue and coordination, concentrating on Track 2 initiatives in the peace process.
DIALOGUE FOR ACTION 2011
Imagine Center is currently implementing on the Phase 3 of ‘Dialogue for Action’ program for 2011 program. The goals of the program are: to offer interested Armenian and Azerbaijani students and young professionals conflict resolution, communication skills and social media tools trainings; provide opportunity to meet their peers from the other side, learn first-hand about each other's positions, needs, concerns and hopes for the future; and to design and implement joint on-line initiatives aimed at improving the understanding between the two societies.
The 2011 Program consists of three phases. Phase 1: Conflict Resolution and Social Media skills Training that were held in Baku and Yerevan on May 7 and 8, 2011. In addition to conflict resolution and communication skills, the participants were offered a workshop on social media and its role in conflict resolution.
Phase 2: The most active participants of the training were participated in Azerbaijani- Armenian Dialogue and Retreat Program in a resort town in Georgia on July 10-20, 2011. During the workshop the participants had trainings, dialogue focusing on the history, current dynamics of the conflict and on developing mechanisms of management of online dialogue projects to engage larger groups in two societies into cross-border dialogue.
Phase 3: follow up activities, where the participants of the previous two phases apply their newly develop skills to design and implement joint cross-border activities using social media tools.
